Peter LloydPeter Lloyd

Peter Lloyd, former principal flute with the London Symphony, studied at the Royal College of Music, London and with Fernand Caratge and Jean-Pierre Rampal in Paris, as well as lessons and masterclasses with Marcel Moyse and Geoffrey Gilbert. He held principal flute positions in the Scottish National, Halle, and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras before joining the London Symphony in 1967. He is a member of the Barry Tuckwell Wind Quintet, the London Virtuosi and the English Taskin Players, groups with whom he tours extensively. Recently released is his recording of French music to add to albums of wind quintets and concertos by Siegmeister and John Williams and he has taken part in hundreds of orchestral recordings with the London Symphony and smaller groups. He has taught in Scotland, the Guildhall School in London, University of Indiana and is presently teaching at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He also gives masterclasses and recitals throughout Europe and the Far East.
